Sheriff Parrett supervised a half million-dollar jail remodel project to alleviate the county of continually asking for variances from the State Jail Inspector to relieve jail overcrowding.

Sheriff Parrett expanded the Electronic Monitoring Program, which places qualified participants out of the jail setting and paying for the program. Subjects are monitored via a transmitter and receiver worn by the participant, which sends a signal to the satellites that enables the Electronic Monitoring Personnel to know the whereabouts of their clients every ten seconds.

Approximately $70,000 a year is placed back into the county coffers from “EM” fees, which in turn is re-distributed by the County Board to help fund successful jail diversion programs such as Project Phoenix.
